Description

A course for those who want to learn the basic techniques of the potter's wheel. It takes place in my studio in Campodarsego, near Padua, easy to reach. Over these 6 two-hour sessions we'll explore the various hand and body positions needed to throw on the wheel and create the basic forms (cylinder, bowl, cone, sphere, etc.). In the first sessions we'll analyse the pieces at the end of each lesson by cutting them in half to understand what to improve; from the fourth lesson we'll keep a form made during the lesson, to decorate with slips and different techniques in the last lesson. At the end of the course you'll have 3 objects made and decorated by you in the colours of your choice. After about 15 days your pieces are fired at 980 degrees; to make them waterproof I apply a glossy clear glaze and, once re-fired at 980 degrees, they'll be ready for collection.
